No, I like Jay John just like Beaver fans love Bellotti and Kent

This coming from a fan of the ducks, whose fan base last year wanted Kent fired, and now after a 7-6 year in football want Bellotti fired. Please! You turn just as fast (if not faster) on your coaches then we have on ours. At least your b-ball coach has had some success.

I have supported John until this point. I truely believed he was turing the program around. I gave him the benefit of the doubt last year when Hurd got hurt. But after Saturday (the second 40+ point loss of the year), I find it very difficult to believe John as this program headed in the right direction.

I would strongly disagree there, sport. Most people don't want Bellotti fired, they want a competent set of coordinators. People have wanted Kent gone for years, but his crimes against Oregon (both on and off the court) outweigh John's crimes against OSU. That, and we're not building as many websites

But that really has nothing to do with what I asked. Your second paragraph was much more to the point. Who are the replacement possibilities?

That may be true, but I have read quite a few threads on e-duck (and here from DnB) along w/ some letters to the editor all calling for MB's job. You might not agree, but there are fans out there who wouldn't mind seeing MB out as head coach. Do you disagree?

As far as possible replacements. Most feel that if John and co can show improvment he will be back next year. Until the USC game, IMO there was improvment. Close games against LSU and Oregon, and played UCLA close in the first half. However, I think Saturday erased all that in people's minds.

I have heard two names mentioned as possible replacements.

Rick Adlemen and the head coach of Nevada are the two names I hear the most. If John is fired, I have faith that Bobby D will bring in a quality coach. So far he has brought in a great women's b-ball coach (who most feel could easisly turn around the men's team!), a wrestling coach with mulitple NCs, and a volleyball coach who use to coach the olympic team. Alot of people give Barnheart credit for helping turn around the OSU Athletic Dept, but Bobby D was there all along helping him out, and since Barnheart left for Kentucky, Bobby D has done some great things at OSU. If he feels it is time for a new b-ball coach he will go out and get a top quality coach.

In anticipation of this response, I made sure I added the word "most" in front of "Duck fans don't want Bellotti fired." Which is true. eDuck has started a few posts on the subject, but they tend to get shot down by the majority. DnB has said numerous times she doesn't want Bellotti gone yet. Ducktildeath is the one who wants gim gone pronto

So no, I don't disagree, because you're agreeing with what I already said. The Fire Bellotti threads are fewer and much farther in between than the extremes the Fire Riley stuff reached, which was my point in the first place that you folks tend to turn on coaches with more gusto than we do

Ernie Kent not included

If Mark Fox really did get hired away from Nevada by OSU, the Pac-10 would be one wicked sick conference for years to come....

Crimes like what? Taking you to the Elite Eight? Recruiting the best Ducks in the history of the program? Making hoops relevant in Eugene for the first time in half a century?

Before I answer your question, I would like to point out that this post was started by myself in the attempt to be an ass and poke fun at OSU. I like to trade barbs with Eugene every once and awhile, and I admit when I'm trying to start up muck for no good reason. Sometimes it bites me in the ass (a thread I started about OSU's narrow win over Arizona), sometimes it's all fun and games. But the point is that if I'm being a dick, I'll admit it. I was doing it here. I wasn't in the Sun Bowl thread over on my board

Jay John has mediocre talent and gives out mediocre results. EK has superb talent and gives out mediocre results. IMO the tease of greatness, only to wind up mediocre, is far worse, and far more frustrating. He did indeed take us to the Elite Eight one year. That being the lone season in his ten years in Eugene he's won a Tournament game. That, and I mentioned his off the court shenanigans for a reason... John taking a trip to Mexico didn't cost you some of the top prep talent in the history of the state

I'm sure it depends on one's definition of crimes, and you could counter with what you believe is harsher times
